Okay. So. A week ago, it was my birthday. On that day, Shihan messaged me, instructing me to give him 50 push-ups. For my birthday. A pretty Shihan-esque thing to do.
It was also around this time that he told me I could fight in the tournament that is happening in the middle of next month. He wants me to get way stronger to try to prepare me for said tournament.
So I went and did the 50 push-ups. I messaged him after they were done and he told me they were not the push-ups he was looking for. I asked him what kind of push-ups he wanted me to do then, because I didn't understand.
He said it was probably better than I didn't understand and was confused. He said I didn't need to understand, I just needed to obey.
I tried some other kind of push-ups and he told me those weren't it either, and he felt that I had gotten lazy in his absence. He hasn't been at the dojo for a good long while now, no idea why. Maybe work is busy.
So, since then, I've been doing various push-ups, in sets of 50. I keep asking him "was that what you wanted?"
Hrm. I wonder if like, the 100th set of 50 push-ups is the one he wants me to do?
Well, I did tell him long ago that I wanted to train old-school...
I was frustrated, but now I'm resigned to just doing the push-ups, over and over and over again.
It'll get me stronger, which will help me in the fight, hopefully.
